Linux is the dominant operating system for Internet web servers and is used in many corporate and Internet infrastructures. Through our Linux Administrator Support Certificate, gain a working knowledge of system architecture, GNU/UNIX commands, installation configuration and management of Linux desktops and servers. Courses

Our Understanding Linux course provides a working knowledge of the Linux operating system. Learn to install Linux as a standalone operating system or as part of a dual boot for a personal computer, and how Unix commands can speed up tasks when using Linux. Configure a wide variety of hardware devices. Understand the Linux file system and how to manage file permissions.

NOTE(S)

This is an online course, and registration is offered through continuous intake (meaning registration is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week throughout the year). Register in the section (CRN) with the Date(s) range that includes the date on which you plan to start the course (keeping in mind that you will receive your course details approximately a week after you register). You have 120 calendar days from the day you receive the course details to complete the course. Please ensure you are familiar with the basic technology requirements for online courses. You will also be required to have Mac OS X 10.7 and Xcode 4 software.

Our Linux Management course provides you with a working knowledge of the installation and management of a Linux server. Learn to configure user accounts and manage file permissions within a shared environment, and how to configure a network to allow workstations to connect to a Linux server. Back up and restore a server in the event of a failure. Protect and secure server resources through data and file management, and automate routine system tasks through shell scripting. Monitor and configure a server for peak performance using Linux utilities.
