Supply Chain Management Certificate

Our Supply Chain Management Certificate provides an overview of many of the key components of supply chain management and logistics such as strategic management, resource planning, technology, global issues, procurement, warehousing and material handling. The courses explore current trends and concentrate on the areas of the supply chain that are experiencing the most growth. This certificate can be completed by individuals with no previous knowledge or experience within the supply chain as well as individuals already working in the industry who are striving for advancement or seeking different opportunities within the supply chain sector.

NOTE(S)

This certificate is accredited by the Canadian Supply Chain Sector Council (CSCSC) through its National Accreditation Program (NAP). The NAP recognizes educational offerings in supply chain-related topics that meet the CSCSC standards (which were created with significant input from supply chain stakeholders). The standards are based on national and international best practices and principles and include requirements for course/program assessment, design, development and delivery as well as student evaluation.

Completion Details

You must complete our LSCM 9001 Introduction to Supply Chain Management course before you take the other courses in this certificate. We would advise you to complete the rest of the compulsory courses before you take the elective courses. However, the order in which you complete the remaining course requirements is only restricted by course prerequisites.

Consider the increasing importance – as well as the challenges – of managing global supply chains through our Global Supply Chain Management course. Study international transport, the global trade scene and the importance of managing risk in global supply chains.

Our Supply Chain Technology course allows you to consider the role of technology in the effective management of the supply chain and the ability of systems to enable supply chain collaboration. Explore demand planning systems, radio frequency identification (RFID) systems and enterprise resource planning systems as well as the impact of the Internet on supply chain management.

Our Green Supply Chain course looks at the benefits of and key drivers for being environmentally aware – or ‘green’ – in the supply chain system. Learn how to steer supply chain decisions while considering corporate social responsibility, green logistics, carbon footprints, continuous improvement and performance evaluation as well as the bottom line. Come away with a green supply chain planning framework and a systematic method for introducing environmental considerations into decision making while retaining profitability.

Inventory management is a very critical component of any company's supply chain management process. With our Inventory Management course, learn about the importance and value of inventory, the different types of technology used in inventory management, planning and replenishment concepts, and the differences between centralized control of inventory and decentralized control of inventory. Also explore alternative inventory management strategies and the challenges of inventory control.

Our Supplier Management course explores supplier management in terms of procurement and procurement strategies. Also consider supplier management from the suppliers' point of view, and focus on how to improve supplier management so that you can establish a mutually beneficial relationship.

In today's competitive global economy, companies are working hard to identify and eliminate waste in their supply chains – to make them lean – which can lead to tremendous cost savings and improved customer service. With our Lean Logistics course, learn about the tools used to improve the efficiency of supply chains. Consider the history and development of lean manufacturing, and review some of the tools that companies are using on their journey to becoming lean.

Our Enterprise Resource Management course is an introduction to the basics of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and how they can influence the outcomes for a company. Review the internal business processes that ERP systems represent, consider the differences between customization and configuration of ERP systems and explore business process re-engineering (BPR) as a business management strategy.
